This morning suddenly the Finches were startled in a different way than usual. They really feared something and I went towards a window to take a look at what was causing this.
On the bench sat a female Sparrowhawk (NL = Sperwer) and luckily she didn't notice me, but she probably was attrackted by the Finches's noice, so many wild Finches are.
She sat there for a very long time.
I am so honoured she visited my small garden (with so many 'fearsome' beasts around. There are no pets living in the other homes and gardens, still she chose mine).
After a while she became a bit anxious and flew away. When I went outside a bit later than that she sat on the neighbours's fence, but when I was setting my camera she was gone...

I went upstairs, afraid she would fly away if I would capture her on camera in front of my windows downstairs

This early morning I met Rob for breakfast in Schiedam at the Hema of all places!
Here you can see the Stedelijk Museum we passed on our way back from the market
Also this little fella, symbol for a local herb liqueur, is famous; 'Proosje van Schiedam'

Suus and I really got along. She is gorgeous, very sensitive and spiritual, artistic and fun to be with!

Cats and Tulips, the Dutch TICA Club, organized a Cat Show here in Hellevoetsluis.
My friend van Siduroy's Miriam is the President and she did a splendid job!

This beautiful Saturday the dogs and I were invited to visit Yvon and her dogs in their garden.
This was a big achievement for Laney, yes I had to force her out of the car and into the garden, but she didn't hide or try to escape once, she just kept walking about the place very nervously, but she even relaxed for a bit

Lavinya was used to come over many times and really feels at home here
She really is interested in the racoons. Meeka isn't bothered at all by her, she is used to so many dogs already

Over at the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen a few wild foxes are kinda tame because people have fed some generations over the years. This, of course, is not a good thing, but it gave me the opportunity to film them and come so very close. These two young foxes even kept sniffing my hands

The weather was lovely, nature was beautiful, unfortunately we didn't stumble into any wild except for a pheasant

Transformation

After Sorcia's burial I went into my home to store the items I'd used and clean up stuff.
I noticed that it was 4.15 PM, the time the vet started the procedure 24 hours ago.
I stored some items and just wanted to put my cleaning gloves on when I noticed that the Finches were startled by something. I looked and in through the open garden door came a butterfly. She flew towards me, I walked immediately towards her. She flapped near my shoulder for a bit and I stretched out my hand so she could land on it. She didn't but she flapped around it for a bit.
Then she went in a straight line across the room and flew through a gap just above the floor between the couch and the armchair which are placed against a small cabinet in the corner of the room.
This was Sorcia's den. Only he and the cats were able to reach this spot through the small gap. His bed was placed at the end under the cabinet. The last couple of years he spent almost all day in this spot except for the last few days.
I immediately took a look and the butterfly was flapping about underneath the cabinet. I went to get my camera and when I returned she was hanging from the bottom of the low cabinet, motionless.
On the first pic I took she still had her wings open, after that she kept them closed.
I made many pics and stayed with her for a very long time but than I decided to release her, it was too much of a risk that my cats would notice her and kill her.
She sat on my finger for a while, but as I wanted to take a pic of this, she flew away and landed on the Finches cage next to the open door. I grabbed my camera again, but as I looked for it she was gone...

Later on I realized that the butterfly came flying in at the time of Sorcia's death the day before.

Thank you Sorcia for sending me this beautiful Peacock Butterfly, this very special and very dear, much cherished and precious message.
I am amazed and so grateful.

Forever Sorcia

This afternoon around 4.30 PM Sorcia, my little big warrior, passed away.
This pic was taken 5 days ago.

Sorcia was raised by Dena, my first Great Dane. When she died Sorcia took over control by bossing everybody around, except me. He always deeply respected me.
Sorcia always felt the need to protect me, he had real guts and feared nothing.
Over the years he built up an enormous ego.

He was crazy about cats, also of the ones on the street.
He used to mount my cats all day long before he was neutered, after that he only did this a couple of times a day.
He followed the cats everywhere as if he was one of them, walking over the sink, on the piano.

He was very tough and had such a strong character.
It is a year ago that he came along for the very last time for a long hike on the beach, this at the age of 16,7.

Exactly one month ago he suffered a stroke of which he didn't fully recover.
Yesterday he had a severe epileptic seizure and this time he didn't recover at all.
In 3,5 months time he would have become 18 years old.
I will miss him deeply, I already do, but I am so happy that I shared such a big part of my life with him.

Sorcia; tough, rough, energetic, will powered, funny, sweet, loyal, strong, fearless, super sized Chihuahua of mine, thank you for everything you gave me, your sincere, unconditional love and your unbreakable loyalty.
